Overcoming A Fear Of Flying, And Then Some

During the summer, I usually have a run of people coming to see me for anxiety around flying as they want less stress getting to their holiday destination or they wish to get to further away places.

I've received a photo from a client who was scared of heights on the top of a tower, a client who had a phobia of sand with his bare feet out on a beach, an email from a client travelling in India who had been scared of snakes pleased at herself not freaking out at the snake charmers, and emails from clients who have happily travelled to their far away place of desire.

Then there are some that take it a step or two beyond that. The person in this picture is a friend who used to be scared of flying. I relieved her of that fear about 9 years ago, and I have had the privilege I don't get with most of seeing the difference this has made to her in the longer term.

Three or four years after hypnosis, after some comfortable flights to Florida and back, she decided she fancied doing a tandem skydive which I went along and watched, full of pride and admiration. A few weeks ago she bought a wing walk on impulse, and I was invited to go watch last weekend.

I'd be lying if I said she was not nervous and having second thoughts right up until they strapped her onto the wing, but she moved through that fear with grace and had the time of her life. Her family were all quite nervous and telling me this was my fault – I think they were tongue in cheek, but maybe not.
