Losing Weight But Gaining What?

I have never liked the term weight loss. You are not losing anything useful and it is not good to associate regaining control of your body with any kind of deprivation. How would you like to gain more control over your relationship with food and a better relationship with your body?

Why Do You Want To Lose Weight?

Weighing less, feeling more attractive and achieving greater fitness can become a fairy tale, especially if you have been telling it to yourself for years. You can start to pin too much responsibility on it - ‘if I can just lose another two stone I will be happy’. The trouble with fairytales is that they are just that - sometimes it can be such a pleasant fantasy that your subconscious won't let you actually achieve it in case you are disappointed, and so you yo-yo over and over again. In other cases it might be that your subconscious has decided that you should not lose weight for some reason. It might just be that slimmer and fitter is just not part of your sense of identity.

Whatever the reason, which we may or may not find out over the course of our time together, something in your mind needs to change.

During our time together you will learn to understand your mind differently:

  • I might introduce you to the parts of your mind that are trying to help and the parts that are getting in the way.

  • I may help you understand your decision making process better at mealtimes so that you can make better decisions.

  • I will guide you to realise that no one food is any more delicious or disgusting than any other food - it's just your mind that decides.

  • We will focus on what it is that you need to change rather than the weight loss itself as that will happen on its own once your thinking and behaviour has changed.

What Will Make You Happy?

So why do you want to lose weight? The common answers are to be fitter and healthier, to feel more attractive, to be able to wear better clothes, to feel happier.

I would argue that everyone comes to see me for one reason - to be happier - and while obliging you in this request to lose weight, I would ask you to be prepared to look at the bigger picture with me so that we can look at any other ways to help you be happier as well, because it’s just not fair to hang that whole responsibility of happiness on achieving a smaller body.

I charge £100 for the first session, £100 for the second session and then £70 per session if things take longer than that.

My most common pattern of sessions is 2 sessions within two weeks of each other and then a 3rd a month later. 10% off if you book all three in advance. £243 payable at the end of the first session. If you need any further support for the same issue after that then the session prices will be £70 thereafter.

All treatment includes phone support between sessions if you need it and hypnotic audios to listen to at home.

If you feel like you would like longer term support straight off the bat then I offer two options. This is usually taken up for issues that require longer term support due to required lifestyle changes or multiple issues.
