You are not one mind, you are many. When I tell people this, I often get surprise yet it is a common phrase to say ‘part of me wants to do it but part of me is not so sure’.
You have your conscious mind and your subconscious mind. Your conscious mind thinks it is you but there is much more to you than that. Your subconscious mind is divided into many. These different parts all have your best in mind, but they also have different priorities which is where inner conflict comes from. They are like different departments of a company – all with different agendas but all wanting the best for the company as a whole. Parts Therapy is a hypnosis technique used in hypnotherapy to resolve inner conflict. If you have an issue that you cannot resolve on your own and you are thinking of seeing a hypnotherapist then this is down to some inner conflict in your mind and can quite probably solved with hypnosis, if you can be hypnotised that is.
Anxiety is a classic symptom of inner conflict. Part of you may want to be more confident with girls or try new things, but another part may not. The second part may see these things as an unnecessary risk and therefore generate feelings of anxiety in order to keep you from doing them.
In order to use Parts Therapy in hypnotherapy the hypnotist needs to establish Ideomotor Responses in order to talk to the subconscious mind. They ask the subconscious mind to take control of a finger for YES and a finger for NO. These movements are outside conscious control and so with some carefully selected questions the subconscious will provide clues as to what needs to change. The hypnotist can use these signals to talk to the part that wants the change and the apart that is against it and then negotiate between the two parts until they find a solution that is best for the client as a whole person.
In using this with my clients in Worthing, I can sometimes observe different body language depending on the part that I am speaking to and the different parts usually use different fingers to communicate. Parts Therapy is a hypnosis technique used in hypnotherapy that can lead to some very fast resolutions to inner conflict whether that is to treat anxiety or stop habits or migraines. The benefits of stories and metaphors in hypnosis are far reaching, but not always useful with a client who does not have strong visualisation skills, parts therapy is a very good alternative technique.
