It is just an association in the mind - that is how some people an react to buttons the way someone else might a bear. If that association can be broken then no more phobia, no more fear. and no more embarrassing panics.
It does not need to matter how long you have had the phobia or how severe it is. It does not even matter if you have trouble talking about it. What matters is dissolving that association in your mind.
