I was reading the Transition Town book a little while back, it’s the manual for local communities as we approach a time where fossil fuel amounts start to decline, as they decline the world will get smaller again and we will have to live off local food produce instead of foods imported. As things stand, the book claims that this country is only a few days away from a famine at any one time (if imports stop that is). This is scary. One of the book’s key messages is ‘resilience‘ and by that it means communities must be self-sufficient, that locally, we must get ourselves to a point where we are not reliant on the rest of the world. We must change.

The change in the community and the change in the Self are similar processes, and the community cannot change without the individuals within it changing first. Resilience is equally as important to the individual as it is to the community for survival.

As an individual, you are a perfect system – you have many natural resources within you to keep yourself physically and psychologically healthy. As society has improved over the last decades we have learned to take it for granted that society will provide which takes a lot responsibility and capability away from us as individuals. If we get ill we rely on NHS to make us better and it’s easy to blame them if they are not successful. If we can’t find work it’s easy to blame the government for ruining the economy. Society can takes away our Self empowerment.

Hypnosis promotes resilience within the individual. A hypnotist is required for the original session or three but what it does is it taps you in to your own inner resources. It does not give you anything from outside. It teaches you to deal with your own self, to take control without having to go back and seek help every time life gets difficult. Hypnosis empowers your Self.
